Student Spotlight: Meet Glene!
“March 20, 2024 has become a significant day in my life. The long -awaited day that I was declared a US citizen! I heaved a sigh of relief and still could not believe I finally made it! I would not have been able to achieve this feat without Wayne Township Adult Education.
The whole journey began in 2008 when I moved from my country, the Dominican Republic, to America with my family, seeking a better life especially for my sons. Since then I have desired to fully participate in all the activities in my community, because I regard this country as my new home.
I worked so hard to keep the rules as a Permanent Resident, but there are quite a few rules! Wayne Township Adult Education with its myriad of opportunities came to my aid. I registered and became a student in the Citizenship Class, which prepared me for the test.
My teacher, Carla, patiently took me through all the rudiments of the Citizenship test which finally culminated in my success today!
With my new status, I look forward to participating in elections and other activities geared towards positive development of my immediate community.”
